Oct. 1, Lahinch, Ireland cds ties 3d on registered cover (open three sides) to Springfield, MA via Cork (2 Oct.) and New York (9 Oct.). The cover remained in Springfield 10 Oct.-20 Oct while searching for the addressee. On Oct. 20th a violet pointing hand "returned to writer unclaimed from registry division Springfield Mass" hand stamp was applied. The trip back to Lahinch was via New York (Oct. 20-21) with on board "Transatlantic Post Office" (Oct. 21 cds), Cardiff (Oct. 27th) & Dublin (Oct. 29th). The Austrian stamp was applied at the origination port.
