Pennsylvania
United States. PA. Philadelphia, PA. Philadelphia Co. (open 1775+). Dated 1853/06/08. Blue cds ties Scott #11 on folded letter with portion of business letter. The 3c was intended to pay the 1/2 ounce letter rate from Boston, via British Packet but was instead sent overland, probably to Robbinson, Maine. Manuscript "10" applied in Maine, blue "6" in St. Andrews, NB. Because of sailing schedules the cover was then sent overland instead of by ship. Reverse with blue June 14 St. Andrews NB transit, black June 15 St. John NB, transit & partial "H JU 17" receiving oval.
