Cover #65508. Canada. Dated 1830/04/26. FLS (no content) originated Cincinnati, Ohio. The letter was rated 25 (c due) for U.S. postage (converted to 1/3d at Queenston. Ms 2(d) for ferriage across the river. There was no postage charge for Canada postage since the letter was addressed to the exchange office at Queenston. The Queenston Postmaster collected both the Canada charge and the U.S. postage for a total of 1/5d. The three line blue handstamps reads "American Postage/Ferriage/Forwarded".

The cover was marked at Queenston 1/3 for the Canadian equivalent of the U.S. postage due + 2 (d) ferriage charge. The postage from Queenston to Ancaster was 1/1 1/2 (4 1/2dx3). The Canadian postmaster collected a total of 5/0 1/2 for the U.S. and Canada charges.

The letter was rated PAID 1/1 1/2d (3x single rate) to Lewiston, NY. For some reason the 2d ferriage fee was not charged. U.S. postage was 50(c due) for 2c the single rate for the distance from Lewiston to New York City. Originally, the post office at Lewiston rated the letter $1.00 due (4x single rate) but this was crossed-out and corrected to 50c due (2c single rate).
