Dated 1870/03/16. 5c Certificate (#R25c) with ms "E.S.S/J.J/??/Mar 12/70" cancel on document with matching names in the signature area. The complete document concerns the sale of patent rights for a door/window hinge. At bottom is a manuscript notation from the U.S. Patent Office recording the transfer of the patent. The signature at bottom is of Samuel S. Fisher, Commissioner of Patents (Apr. 69-Nov 70). On the cover of the document is a blue oval handstamp "PATENT OFFICE/MAR 16 1870". The scans has been pieced together, the actual document is complete..
