The sender prepaid the following postage to New York: Canadian postage of 9d (7d postage to Queenston 61-100 miles + 2c ferriage fee), U.S. postage of 25d (over 400 miles) from Lewiston to New York City. The British postage (sea postage = 1/ + carriage from Liverpool to Glasgow - 2d sterling) was not prepaid. On back is boxed Liverpool/Ship Letter h/s & Glasgow 20 JU h/s.

Cover #65513. Canada. Dated 1835/04/13. Fls with three page family letter from Shelbo, Great Britain to Oxford, UC. Route: Shelbo - Liverpool - New York - Lewiston - Queenston - Toronto - Oxford. Rated 1/3 British sea postage + 27c due (25c over 400 miles + 2c ship captain's fee). Postage from Queenston to Oxford was 11d (9d for 101-200 miles + 2d ferriage fee. The Canadian Postmaster collected the total 2/3 1/2d for the U.S. and Canada.

Cover #65461. Nova Scotia. Dated 1864/09/02. Halifax grid ties 10c Victoria (#12) on fls (w/o content) to Baltimore via Boston. The Cunard steamer Europa sailed from Liverpool on August 20, arriving in Halifax on August 31st. The letter was put on board as a loose letter. The Europa arrived in Boston on Sept. 2nd. The letter was then carried from Boston to Baltimore overland in a closed bag.
