Difficult to understand how the Culver City PM opened the letter by mistake. No New York return postal markings.

United States. IA. Burlington, IA. Des Moines Co. (open 1834+). Dated 1920/02/24. 6 PM machine cancel ties Scott 498 pair with guide line at bottom on local delivery cover. Feb 25 cds & Feb 25 GEN. DEL. cds are on the cover along with various crayon address corrections. The cover marked in pencil, on the reverse, with "opened by mistake" note. The pencil note became mostly obscured when a Scott OX 11 was used to seal the envelope. The seal is tied to the cover by an "8" in blue crayon circle.

On the face to the left of the stamps is a Jun 26 1 PM Chicago duplex "3" hand stamp. On reverse is a Jun 25, 1:30 PM Chicago "1" duplex and a smeared Chicago machine cancel. Magenta "Damaged by cancelling machine M.D.T. 4" (Piszkiewicz BDD-4). Part of the damage to the cover is sealed by a Scott OX11. that is tied by stains.
